Uptown
Uptown is a sort of “umbrella” neighborhood with many sub-neighborhoods. There are mostly the original “suburbs” of New Orleans where most of the architecture and style of living dates back to the late-1800s to mid-1900s.
When Orleaneans started branching out from the French Quarter, they went upriver/West along the river bend because there’s a natural high ground along the curve of the Mississippi.
Uptown is known for it’s walkable amenities (restaurants, bars, and many shops!), beautiful architecture, and the main through-line of the St. Charles streetcar line, which is the only mobile landmark on the National Register of Historic Places!
