About the Neighborhood
Lakeview
The Lakeview area of New Orleans was originally swamp, coffee fields, and some of it was still in the lake! In the mid-1900s, the area was dredged and made into land solid enough to build. This is how the post-WWII suburb to the west and above City Park, now known as “Lakeview”, came to be developed.
The architecture began as modest mid-century Ranch homes and over time grew to larger, contemporary houses.
Harrison Avenue became a fun, central shopping district and the families that have now lived in the neighborhood for a couple generations also enjoy lakefront restaurants and outdoor activities as well as all the fun and intrigue City Park provides!
