About the Neighborhood
Mid-City
Mid-City is right in the center of New Orleans. Halfway between the river and the lake, it’s a naturally lower elevation so it wasn’t developed as a neighborhood until after the technology became available to pump water out of swampy areas.
Since then, this neighborhood has thrived with it’s own unique, funky character. Most of the buildings are early 20th century with blocks of iconic decorative details. So iconic, in fact, that the area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places!
With it’s placement near City Park as well as myriad shops, restaurants, and other neighborhood amenities at seemingly every corner, Mid-City is highly walkable and highly enjoyable. It connects to the Lafitte Greenway, where one can bike all the way down to the river, and has easy access to the I-10, which will conveniently get you to anywhere else in the city.
